2014 Feb 6

William Hill, senior from Sikeston High School in Sikeston, Mo., has competed in Culver-Stockton College's 30th Annual Pillars for Excellence scholarship competition. Every year, Culver-Stockton selects eight winners for this full-tuition award. The scholarship is valued at $94,800, awarded over a four-year period.

To compete to be a Pillars for Excellence scholar, a student must have at least a 26 ACT or 1170 SAT score and have a 3.75 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale or rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class. Competitors must also come to campus and complete two interviews with faculty and staff and submit an essay on a given writing prompt.

Nearly 60 students competed for this full-tuition scholarship. Winners will be announced Feb. 14, 2014.
