Sara Dern Honored by Kennedy Center's American College Theatre

Sara Dern, a sophomore theatre major from Merriam-Woods, Mo., was recently honored during the Kennedy Center's American College Theatre Region V Festival 44 held in Ames, Iowa, Jan. 15-21.

Dern was awarded 2nd Place, Regional Sound Design Competition for work on "A Streetcar Name Desire". Students were mentored throughout the fall semester by faculty members including Tony Luetkenhaus, instructor of theatre and technical director; Kent Miller, professor of theatre and chair of the Fine Arts Division; and Haidee Heaton, associate professor and head of the theatre department. "Our theatre students are doing some excellent work holding their own against some of the 'powerhouse' schools in the region. We couldn't be more proud of each and every one of them," commented Heaton.
