Ruthie Wheelock Named October's Student-Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College senior middle hitter Ruthie Wheelock has been named the Missouri National Guard Student Athlete of the Month for October.

Wheelock, a communication and sociology major from Lovington, Ill. (Lovington HS), appeared in 119 sets this season, garnering 228 kills on 570 attempts. She committed 91 hitting errors for a hitting percentage of 24 percent, had a 91.9 percent service percentage and 91 blocks this season. She also tallied 42 digs and 10 service aces.

In her career, Wheelock totaled 602 career kills in 290 sets, an average of 2.08 kills per set. She recorded a hitting percentage of 26.6, a serve percentage of 91.5 and garnered 33 career service aces. In addition, Wheelock contributed 179 career blocks, including 61 solo blocks.

In addition to her athletic accomplishments, Wheelock is the current vice-president of the Student Government Association (SGA), president of Lambda Pi Eta, a communication tutor and a community assistant. She has been named to the Dean's List and has been nominated for NAIA Scholar-Athlete award.
