Ruthie Wheelock Named NAIA Scholar-Athlete

2013 Dec 12

The Culver-Stockton College women's volleyball team had three players recognized as 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Volleyball Scholar-Athletes by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Named to the list were senior middle blockers Jacklyn Strouse and Ruthie Wheelock, and senior defensive specialist Lori Privratsky. Strouse and Privratsky were named to the list for the second straight year.

Wheelock, a speech communication major from Lovington, Ill. (Lovington HS), saw action in 119 of the 120 sets and all 33 matches played by the Wildcats this season. She recorded 228 kills (1.92/set) and 91 blocks during the season. Wheelock was named to the All-HAAC team as an honorable mention selection.

Three hundred ninety-one women's volleyball players were recipients of the NAIA-Daktronics Scholar-Athlete honor. Student-athletes must have a junior or senior academic standing and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.50. Student-athletes who transferred must have been in attendance at an institution for one full year to be eligible.
