Payton Curley Named Heart Women's Player of the Week

Culver-Stockton College guard Payton Curley was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week (Dec. 25-31) for her play in a 71-56 victory over Saint Ambrose Dec. 28.

Curley, a 5-foot-10 freshman from Salem, MO (Salem HS) 65560, came off the bench and matched her career-high in points (19) to lead the Wildcats to a road victory over Saint Ambrose (Iowa). Payton only shot 41.7 percent from the field, but was at 50 percent (3-6) from the 3-point stripe and made all six of her free throw attempts in 19 minutes of game action.

For the season, Curley is averaging a team-leading 9.3 points per game through the first 12 games. She leads the Wildcats with 17 3-pointers made, is shooting 95.7 percent (22-23) from the free throw line, and is averaging 2.3 rebounds per game.
