Matt Kelly Named Scholar-Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College linebacker Matt Kelly has been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for October.

Kelly, a senior from Mundelein, Ill., 60060 (Carmel HS) is a four-year letterwinner of the football team. He recorded 201 career tackles, including 120 solo stops, 17 tackles for loss, forced three fumbles, recovered five fumbles and had three interceptions.

During the 2017 season, Kelly amassed 81 total tackles, including 50 unassisted tackles, five tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries. In his final game, Kelly registered seven tackles, recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass, which he returned for a touchdown.

Off the field, Kelly is pursuing a degree in business administration. In six completed semesters, Kelly has been named to either the President's List or Dean's List every semester. In 2016-17, Kelly was named to the All-Heart of America Athletic Conference North Division team on the field and an NAIA Scholar-Athlete off the field. He is involved with ENACTUS, the school radio station and has been inducted into the Phi Beta Lambda business honor society.

Kelly is the second Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month for the 2017-18 school year. Junior women's volleyball player Anna Stock was honored in September.
