Leah Miller Named Heart Soccer Offensive Player of the Week

Culver-Stockton College forward Leah Miller has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for her play in the Wildcats' two victories last week.

The conference honor is the second straight for C-SC, which saw goalkeeper Kehley Bitzas named Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 17.

Miller, a junior from Lake Saint Louis, MO 63367 (Holt HS), netted four goals last week, including a hat trick in a 4-3 overtime victory at Mount Mercy University (Iowa) last Wednesday. She also scored the first goal in the Wildcats' 4-2 victory at Avila University (Mo.) Sunday.

Against Mount Mercy, the Wildcats trailed 2-0 before Miller notched her first goal of the game to cut the deficit in half. After the Mustangs took a 3-2 lead early in the second half, Miller tied the game with her second goal before netting the game-winner with her third goal just 33 seconds into overtime.

For the season, Miller has registered a team-leading 10 goals and added four assists for a team-best 24 points this season. She has tallied two game-winning goals. Miller also leads the team with 40 shots overall and 26 shots on goal.

The Wildcats, currently 10-5-2 overall and 7-4 in the Heart, conclude the regular season Saturday, Oct. 29, at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. Game time is set for 5:30 p.m. The Heart postseason tournament begin Nov. 1 with two play-in games.
