Kehley Bitzas Named Heart Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Culver-Stockton College goalkeeper Kehley Bitzas has been named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for her play in victories over Mount Mercy (Iowa) University and Evangel (Mo.) University last week.

Bitzas, a sophomore from Greenvale, Australia, recorded two shutouts last week for the Wildcats. Bitzas made a combined nine saves in the two matches, including four stops against Mount Mercy Sept. 20. The Mustangs entered that game as the NAIA's top goal-scoring team with 46 goals. Bitzas has 10 shutouts in her career.

For the season, Bitzas has stopped 27 of the 36 shots put on goal and has registered three shutouts. She has allowed nine goals for a 1.17 goals against average, which ranks sixth in the league. Bitzas has played 693 minutes of a possible 720 minutes this season. She has faced 57 shots overall.

The Wildcats, now 5-3 overall and 2-1 in the Heart, are scheduled to host Graceland (Iowa) University this Wednesday, Sept. 27, at NX Level Field. Game time is slated for 5 p.m.
