James Heisse Named Primos Student-Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College senior James Heisse has been named the Primo's Pizza and Subs Student Athlete of the Month for January.

Heisse, a 5-foot-10 setter from Florissant, MO 63031 (DeSmet HS) is a four-year letterwinner on the men's volleyball team. In 16 matches played this season, Heisse has recorded 572 set assists, or an average of 9.53 per set. The 572 set assists ranks second and the 9.53 assists per set rank eighth in the NAIA. Heisse also leads the Wildcats with 88 digs and 12 service aces.

In his career, Heisse has registered 2,820 set assists, which is a school record. He also has 51 career service aces, which ranks second all-time. In addition, Heisse has recorded 48 kills and 460 digs during his tenure.

Off the court, Heisse is pursuing a degree in biology. He has been named to the Dean' List two times and the Honor Roll two times during his career. Earlier this season, Heisse was named Setter of the Week by the Heart of America Athletic Conference for his play Jan. 15-21.

Heisse is the fifth Primo's Student-Athlete of the Month for the 2017-18 school year. Junior women's volleyball player Anna Stock was honored in September, senior football player Matt Kelly was honored in October, junior bowler Joey Krzywonos was honored in November and junior women's basketball player Lacey Clark was honored in December.
