2014 Apr 11

Culver-Stockton College's student-produced newspaper, the Megaphone, and members of the staff were recently recognized with 13 awards at the Missouri College Media Association's (MCMA) 2014 Awards Ceremony. Jacqui Porter, senior media communication major from Florissant, Mo., was awarded second place in the Page One Design category, along with Ciara Mackey, for their work on the May 7, 2013 edition. Porter also received an honorable mention in the Sports Writing Category for her article "Nothing Short of Amazing." In addition, the Megaphone received an honorable mention for best newspaper in its division.

The MCMA presents these awards every year, and over 20 colleges in the state were reviewed for awards. Culver-Stockton competed in the Division 3 Small School category. The awards ceremony was held April 5, in Kirksville, Mo.

The Megaphone is a monthly newspaper that has been in circulation since 1919. Tyler Tomlinson, lecturer in communication, is the Megaphone's faculty-advisor.
