Grant Thompson Named Student-Athlete of the Month

Culver-Stockton College sophomore setter Grant Thompson has been named the Missouri National Guard Student Athlete of the Month for January.

Thompson, a finance and accounting major from Rossmoor, Calif. (Los Alamitos HS) is a two-year starter on the men's volleyball team, which is in its second season of competition. Thompson has played in 149 out of a possible 151 career sets with the Wildcats. He has recorded 635 career assists, 289 career digs and 109 career kills.

Academically, Thompson has been named to the Dean's List in each of his three semesters on the Hill, and was inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, which is an honor society for first-year students, last year. He is co-vice president of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) and a teaching assistant.

Thompson's other activities include serving as a community assistant for a freshman residence hall, secretary for Campus Programming Council and is the student representative for the Culver-Stockton Strategic Plan committee. In addition, he is treasurer for Alpha Tau Omega, coaches a girls 12U youth volleyball team and helps leads worship for Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, Ill.
