Derek Mason Named 2017 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced that 383 baseball student-athletes have been named 2016-17 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. William Woods University (Mo.) led all institutions with 11 individuals on the list.

Culver-Stockton placed three players on the list this season.

Named from the Wildcats were junior pitcher Tyler Smith an accounting and finance major, from Victoria, Ill. (ROWVA HS); junior catcher Derek Mason, a communication major and sport management minor from Blue Springs, MO. 64014 (Blue Springs HS), and junior pitcher Daniel Smith, an accounting and finance major from Victoria, Ill. (ROWVA HS).

In order to be nominated, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor. Transfer students must complete one full year at the nominating institution to be eligible.
