Danielle Nicholson Wins Full-Tuition Scholarship to Culver-Stockton College

2014 Feb 20

Danielle Nicholson, senior high school student from Saint Anne Community High School in St. Anne, Ill., is among eight students who have won the Pillars for Excellence scholarship at Culver-Stockton College. The $94,800 scholarship is designed to cover four full years of tuition, awarded annually at the freshman value.

Strict academic standards are required to even compete for the Pillars scholarship. There are three general requirements for students to compete for the scholarship: Students must apply and be admitted to Culver-Stockton, have a minimum composite score of 26 on the ACT or an equivalent SAT score, and they must have a minimum 3.75 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Competitors also had to visit campus and complete two interviews with faculty and staff, as well as submit an essay. Forty-five candidates competed in the 30th Annual competition, with an average GPA of 3.92 (on a 4.0 scale) and an average ACT score of 28.

"The Pillars for Excellence Scholarship is an excellent opportunity for these high-achieving students, and I can't wait to see what they do with it. I know the entire community looks forward to welcoming them to campus in the fall," said Misty McBee, director of admission.

Nicholson's intended area of study is occupational therapy.

Culver-Stockton College is a four year residential college located in Canton, Mo. C-SC is in affiliation with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
