Dakotta Hagar competes in Irene Ryan Acting Competition

Dakotta Hagar, senior vocal music education major from Edina, Mo., was among a group of Culver-Stockton College students who recently traveled to Minneapolis, Minn., to participate in the annual Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF), Jan. 18-24. While at the conference, Hagar assisted C-SC students competing in the Irene Ryan Acting Competition as an acting partner. The acting competition was comprised of over 300 students from colleges in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.

In addition to the students competing, Michael York, instructor of theatre arts and facility manager, received a Merit Award for Technical Direction and Facilities Management for his work in "The Busy Body." Dr. Ron Zank, assistant professor of theatre, also received a Merit Award for Direction and Design of "The Busy Body." Additionally, Dr. Haidee Heaton, associate professor of theatre and department chair of communications and theatre, was the coordinator for the regional festival of the Irene Ryan Acting Competition, and was on the management team.
