Brittany Thompson participates in Culver-Stockton's Annual Mission Trip

2014 Mar 17

Brittany Thompson, sophomore nursing major from Lancaster, Mo., was among 16 students and staff members who journeyed across the United States to Pennsylvania, to assist a community in need during the annual Spring Break Mission Trip, March 1-8, 2014.

The students and staff were divided into groups to complete different service projects. One group went to an elderly woman's house to do reconstruction work on walls, paint and replace old ceiling tiles. At an elderly man's home, another group did drastic amounts of painting and laid flooring and tiles. The last group, which consisted of students and staff from both groups, constructed bunk beds needed for the church when mission camps come to stay. Although there was quite a bit of work involved, the students and staff were able to venture Pittsburgh to shop, dine and explore the city.

The group was housed at the Wilkinsburg Christian Church, where they enjoyed playing games, attending worship and making homemade meals.

The group was led by the Culver-Stockton Chaplain, Amanda Sorenson.
