Ashlyn May Graduates from Culver-Stockton College with College Honors

Ashlyn May, of Camp Point, Ill. (62320), was recognized at Culver-Stockton College's 161st commencement exercises for graduating with college honors. The mission of the College Honors Scholars Program is to enhance the educational environment of Culver-Stockton College by providing unique academic opportunities to highly motivated students and faculty. This mission is based on the belief that academic excellence requires high expectations and personal engagement; therefore, the Honors Scholars Program seeks creative avenues for exploring and implementing this belief in both theory and practice. Students upon matriculation are eligible for C-SC's Honors Program with a minimum 26 ACT and a 3.75 high school grade point average.

The purpose of C-SC's Honors Program is to ensure that each honors scholar has access to a rigorous curriculum that emphasizes original research, collaborative relationships, intensive writing, great works, creative expression and advanced thinking skills -- analytical, creative, critical, qualitative and quantitative. To also provide honors scholars opportunities for leadership development through seminars and co-curricular activities, and to provide opportunities for honors scholars to develop character by integrating knowledge with experiences through service learning, volunteerism, leadership opportunities, international travel and interdisciplinary exploration.
